Objectives:  

The  programme  is  designed  to:  provide  advanced  training  in  fish  science  for  veterinarians  and  other graduates, develop capacity to enhance fish production through improved management and health, develop personnel to undertake academic responsibility in research and teaching in fish industry.

Structure and Content:

Biostatistics and Computer Use: Fish biology: This course will cover Fish Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry. The different types of fishes and their habitat, Fish farming, management, breeding and feeding: Introduction to aquaculture. Various types of fish farming, culture methods, fish breeding 1nethods. Nutritional requirements of various classes of fish, Fish bacteriology and mycology: Normal flora  of  fish:  bacteria  and  fungi. Epidemiology  and control  of bacterial  and  fungal  diseases  of fish,  Fish  Parasitology  and non  infectious  conditions:  Parasites  of  fish,  epidemiology  and  control of fish parasites. Zoonosis. Nutritional diseases, and tumours, Fish virology and immunology: This course will cover fish viruses, epidemiology and control of viral diseases in fish.
